Life Is Exciting

Life has become very exciting. In truth, life continues to be exciting. There is so much happening with plenty of room to imagine what's around the corner. I have no idea but it's very exciting.

My Father Is Ill

Yesterday I receive an email from my niece in Palestine telling me that my father was sick for about 2 weeks but that he's well now. I also get an IM from my friend Mansour who tells me that my father is very sick and that I should call him. He's been taken several times to hospitals in Ramallah who give him pills and tell him he should go home and lay in bed.

I called him and all he could say was that he was sick. Very sick and maybe it was time to die. My father is close to 80 years old and is not the strong man he once was.

"He's different from when you were here in August," Mansour tells me. "He's not the same."

Jimmy Carter/Christie Whitman Pay Respect to Arafat

Palestinian Election

There is so much news and excitement stirring around this Sunday's Palestinian presidential election. I wish I was there right now. People speak of the possibility for peace in the region now that Arafat has died and I suppose that there is reason to be hopeful. However, I also know that there are many Israeli's who do not care to see a Palestinian state come into existence even if it meant peace and security for themselves. Ideally, I would love to see one entire secular state for both Israeli's and Palestinians living together and in harmony rather than two countries living side by side.

"Let Me Travel In Peace"

Boy can i relate to this piece as I'm sure many other's who have experienced Israeli "security measures" at Ben Gurion airport can. It was suggested to me that I also write a letter to the U.S. State Dept. complaining about the manner in which I was treated not only at the airport but throughout my time in Israel. I still haven't written the letter but the idea of doing so has not left me.
